Congratulations to Collin Sexton, a 2018 Aureon Scholarship Recipient!

Collin Sexton of Titonka, Iowa, always had a passion for helping others and grew up watching his mother do just that as a nurse. It was these early impressions of helping others, and the intertwined knowledge of science and technology that make it possible, which lead him down the path of pursuing a STEM-related course of study at the University of Iowa.

Collin, a 2018 Aureon Scholarship recipient, is currently in his senior year at the University of Iowa where he plans to graduate this spring with a degree in human physiology. Upon graduation, Collin will attend dental school at the University of Iowa, to which he has already been accepted.

“I had the opportunity to shadow many different health professionals while completing my undergraduate degree,” Collin said, “and found my passion for dentistry.”

While there were many career choices for Collin, he says that one of the main reasons he chose to pursue profession in health care is for endless opportunities for growth and continued education throughout his life.

“I believe STEM careers are one of the most important careers in our country right now,” Collin said. “Education in these fields allow for the advancement of endless opportunities for a large portion of the population.”

While his hard work, drive, and talent are the key components to his academic success, Collin says support from the Aureon Scholarship Program, in partnership with Titonka-Burt Communications, had a major effect on his college plans and his achievements. “The Aureon Scholarship Program allowed me to focus my time on my studies,” he said. “Not having to obtain a job during my first year of college was extremely helpful in allowing me to succeed early on in my college career.”

The Sexton family resides in Titonka, Iowa, and are Customers of Titonka-Burt Communications.
